If you are searching for a trendy breakfast and brunch bistro that uses prime produce from Ireland and abroad, head to Wuff Restaurant this weekend. Located at Smithfield in Dublin 7, this restaurant is a great place to catch up with friends and family over breakfast or brunch.
A few points to note would be that this restaurant does not offer reservations during weekends, and they have a maximum time allocation of 1.5 hours per table for brunch and 2 hours for an early dinner sitting. Being a trendy restaurant, there is usually a waiting time of approximately 30 minutes during weekends; however, their service is courteous and quick.
As my friends, husband, and I popped into this buzzing restaurant at noon on a Sunday, we were seated by the window and offered their extensive breakfast menu. This restaurant also provides Vegetarian and Vegan options for certain dishes.
We each ordered ourselves tea and coffee to start our heavy brunch. My husband chose the Full Irish breakfast: Free-Range Pork, Leek Sausage, Potato & Chive Cake, Clonakilty Black and White Pudding, 2 Bacon, House Baked Beans and Free-Range Egg with Crispy Sourdough Toast. Needless to say, this was a heavy meal with all of the favourite ingredients within the Irish cuisine.
Next, serving the table was the Vegetarian Breakfast ordered by my friend. This breakfast consisted of 2 Vegetarian Sausages, Wilted Baby Spinach, Potato & Chive Cake, House-Baked Beans, Free-Range Egg, Grilled Tomato, and Mushrooms with Sourdough Toast. This is the vegetarian version of the full Irish breakfast and is heavy too.
My dish for the day was the Spicy Chicken Chorizo which comes under the Toasties section of the menu. This dish contains slices of Chicken Breast, Spicy Chorizo, Tabasco Mayo, Roasted Plum Tomatoes & Pepper Rocket on Sourdough Bread served with Chips OR a Mug of Soup. Since I visited this restaurant during winter, I opted for their Soup of the day instead of the Chips and it was rather delicious.
The next dish presented at our table was the Goat’s Cheese Toasty which has Vegetarian and Vegan options. This dish contains Creamy Goat’s Cheese, Red Onion Jam, Toasted Pine Nuts, and Peppery Rocket Served with Chips OR a Mug of Soup. My friend chose the option of crispy and delicious Chips while also opting for the Vegan version.
All the ingredients used at this restaurant were fresh, and the brunch was indeed delicious. It was pretty heavy for someone with a small appetite, but the portion was moderate for anyone with a slightly larger appetite. Of course, one has to wait a while for a table during weekends as the restaurant is buzzing with customers. But the food was served to us fairly quickly, and the service was up to the mark.
This is an excellent opportunity for foreigners to try the Irish breakfast in Ireland. So this weekend, head to Wuff restaurant—a great place to meet up with friends or to enjoy a meal with your family.
