If you want to try Sushi or Japanese cuisine in Dublin for the first time, visit Eatokyo located on Capel Street. My husband and I were pretty hesitant about whether we would like sushi, but we were pleasantly surprised by the many sushi options available at this restaurant. Nowadays, there are vegetarian sushi options, so there you go; even vegetarians can try out this unique dish.

Salmon and Prawn Sushi

In this quaint restaurant, you can choose the two-piece sushi option so that you don't order a whole platter and end up wasting it in case it does not suit your palate. So, because they had the two pieces per portion sushi option, we got the chance to try different types of sushi and figured out which ones we liked best. However, I warn you that the green paste in the above image is 'Wasabi'. This paste is extremely spicy, and I suggest tasting very little wasabi before dipping your sushi into it, as it may burn your mouth.

Sake

Since we like to try out authentic drinks and dishes from different cuisines, we tried their traditional beverage,' Sake'. Served in a terra cotta pot with two small cups, this warm drink had a strong, pungent taste. It may suit your liking or not; you will know it only if you try it.

Asahi and Sapporo beer

We also tasted their local Japanese craft beer called 'Sapporo' and 'Asahi' and quite liked them.

Seafood Ramen

Moving on to the main course, we tried the Seafood Ramen and the Beef Ramen. I love ramen because they use the same broth, they cook the dish in, and you can relish the flavour of the ingredients in it. Swimming in the seafood broth, there were noodles with fried salmon, prawns, squid, and vegetables. This warm dish was delicious, with lovely garnishing of narutomaki and shiitake mushroom.

Beef Ramen

The beef ramen consisted of noodles in a chicken and pork soup with thin slices of beef and pal Choi. It had the garnishing of narutomaki and shiitake mushrooms. Ramens are filling as they have a lot of vegetables and meats, so I suggest not ordering too many side dishes in case you opt for ramen.

If you are a vegetarian, you can opt for their vegetarian ramen and choose among the various vegetarian options they have. I was also tempted to try their wok noodles, but I guess I'll have to leave that for next time.

Based on the dishes above, our bill came up to €€. So, if you are ready to try sushi for the first time, here's a place to start.
