As a Child!

As a child, I was taught what was right and what was wrong,
But as I grew, that knowledge did not belong,

As a child, I was taught to be kind to all,
But as I grew, I was warned to be cautious with all,

As a child, I was told to give more and expect nothing in return,
But as I grew older, I was advised to learn to receive,

As a child, I was told: wealth cannot buy happiness,
Yet as I grew, I found joy in what money can buy,

Childhood whispered of a simple, carefree joy ride,
But adulthood untangled, the complexities we simply cannot hide.
